In 2025, we trained 155 Rangers across BC, supporting Black Rock and Regional Ranger communities in Victoria, Vancouver, and beyond. As our community continues to grow, we’re taking the time to thoughtfully plan the next round of training so we can offer a strong, well-supported experience.

Why In-Person Training Matters
In-person training lets you:
✔ Practice using a radio
✔ Build real-world Ranger skills
✔ Connect with fellow volunteers
While our online training covers the same core content, it’s not always a full substitute — especially for hands-on elements like radio communication and physical presence.
First-time volunteering? We strongly recommend attending in-person if you can.
That said, both formats benefit from a mix of new and experienced Rangers. If you’re a returning Ranger and able to join in person, your presence helps make the training stronger for everyone.
Training Registration Process
Inspired by the Black Rock Rangers, we’re rolling out a new approach:
- Complete the online self-study
- Pass a short quiz
- Unlock access to register for a live session
Why? This ensures everyone comes to training with a shared foundation, helping us build a confident, prepared Ranger team and a smoother experience for all.
