About BC Rangers

BC Rangers is a volunteer community that supports regional Burning Man events in British Columbia.

We are an independent collective of Black Rock Rangers living primarily in Greater Vancouver, on Vancouver Island, and in surrounding regions. We support people who Ranger at Burning Man and at regional Burning Man events.

Despite our name, BC Rangers is not a government agency, park ranger service, law-enforcement organization, search-and-rescue organization, or emergency service. We are not affiliated with BC Parks, Parks Canada, or any provincial or federal ranger service.

In the Burning Man community, Rangers are volunteers who help participants navigate challenging situations, resolve conflicts, and contribute to safer, more connected events through communication, mediation, and community support.

As our community continues to grow, so does the need for trained, connected, and supported Rangers.

Our mission is twofold:

  • to provide Black Rock Ranger and Regional Ranger training; and
  • to foster a strong, connected network of Rangers who support one another, our shared communities, and Burning Man Regional events throughout BC.

Whether you’re an experienced Ranger, interested in becoming one, or simply wondering what Rangers do and why they matter, we’re glad you’re here.

Finally—and most importantly—thank you to everyone who has volunteered to Ranger in any capacity. Your time, care, and presence make a real difference to our communities, and you are deeply appreciated. 💛
