This training is for anyone who wants to ranger at a regional event (such as Otherworld, Burn in the Forest, SOAK or Critical Northwest) in 2019.
Thanks for signing up, Ranger! Here is all the information to get the most out of your day:
Agenda
09:45AM – 10:00AM: Arrival and sign-in – we aim to start promptly at 10 am
10:00AM – 02:30PM: Main Training
03:00PM – 05:00PM: Ranger Social (optional)
Transit/Parking & Venue Information
- The venue is located within one block of the Yaletown-Roundhouse station on the Canada Line
- #6 and C23 buses run nearby
- There are bike racks on the block, though you might need to look across the street for a place to lock one up
- There is pay parking out front and on nearby streets, but it’s Yaletown so it tends to be overpriced – plus meters are limited to a couple of hours. If you do drive, your best bet for parking is at the Impark lot underground next to the Urban Fare at 177 Davie St., I believe it’s $9 to park until 6 pm
- The venue is an office building, so we will have someone in the lobby with a keyfob to send people up before the training starts. Please try to arrive on-time, as we will otherwise need to send someone down to the lobby to let you up once training has started. Signage will be posted with contact info, in case you are late.
Preparation
We will be using the Northwest Rangers regional training manual, which is acceptable training for most regional events in BC, Washington, and Oregon. There is not yet a trainee manual that we can share with you, however, you can prepare yourself by checking out the Black Rock Ranger Manual, as it is the foundation of our training.
What To Bring
- Notebook and pen
- Water bottle / cup
- A snack (we will have only two 10min breaks, no lunch)
Post-Training Ranger Social
After training, you are invited to decompress and share your thoughts & experiences at the Ranger Social. Destination TBD.
Thank You, Ranger!
It takes a community to help make our events a compassionate and supportive place. Thank you, Ranger, you are so appreciated.
