Choose a call sign that’s unique, memorable, and totally you.
Your BC Rangers handle is the name you’ll use as your radio call sign and to sign up for shifts.
In some cases, you may propose a Ranger handle that is too similar to an existing handle, or it doesn’t meet our criteria for your call sign.
✅ What Makes a Great Handle?
Your ranger handle must:
- Be unique – It shouldn’t sound like anyone else’s when spoken over the radio.
- Avoid your real name – No first names, nicknames, or name-like variants.
- Be easy to say – No tongue-twisters, slurred sounds, or inside jokes.
- Skip the radio keywords – Avoid words like “Ranger,” “Medical,” “Security,” or “Allcom.”
- Have 2–5 syllables – Longer names are easier to hear and distinguish.
- Include a hard consonant sound – Makes your name pop (think: Flashpot, Cadillac).
- Stay clean and kind – No profanity, drug references, sexual innuendo or anything offensive.
📩 What We Need from You
Please send us three handle ideas, ranked by preference. Email them to Ranger Spreadsheet at comms@bcrangers.ca.
If you already submitted one at training, feel free to resubmit it if you think it fits!
We’ll get back to you to confirm your handle or suggest alternatives if needed.
