Directed Ticket FAQs for BC Rangers at Otherworld 2025

1. What is a “directed ticket”?

A directed ticket is a guaranteed opportunity to buy a ticket outside of the general sale, reserved for volunteers or production team members that help make Otherworld a reality. They are about $50 cheaper than a general sale ticket.

2. I rangered last year. Does that mean I automatically get a directed ticket this year?

No. Otherworld has changed the system: volunteering now qualifies you for a directed ticket in the same year you volunteer, not the following year.

3. Can I buy my Ranger directed ticket when directed tickets go on sale May 1?

No. Rangers will not have directed tickets available to purchase on May 1 — unless you are eligible for one through another Otherworld volunteer organization.

4. How do I get a directed ticket as a Ranger this year?

If you don’t have access to a directed ticket through another volunteer team on May 1, don’t worry — you can still get one through Rangers!

Here’s how:

  • After our final pre-Otherworld training on May 17, we’ll release the Ranger shift schedule.
  • Sign up for your shift(s) on the schedule.
  • Add an asterisk (*) next to your name to indicate you still need a directed ticket.

We have a reserved pool of directed tickets set aside specifically for Rangers who complete their training and sign up to volunteer.

5. What happens if I don’t get a ticket during the general sale?

Don’t panic! If you sign up to walk a Ranger shift and indicate that you need a ticket, we will assign you a directed ticket from the reserved Ranger pool.

6. How do I let the Ranger Leads know I need a ticket?

When you sign up on the Ranger shift spreadsheet, put an asterisk (*) next to your name.
Example: “Flashpot*”
This signals to the leads that you need help securing a ticket.

7. Am I guaranteed a ticket if I sign up for a shift?

We have reserved 100 directed tickets for Rangers who sign up for shifts — but we do expect you to show up and walk your shift(s) to access a ticket.

8. Why can’t I just get my directed ticket on May 1 like other volunteer teams?

Since Rangers haven’t yet completed training or signed up for shifts by May 1, we aren’t able to confirm who is eligible for a directed ticket at that time.

Instead, we have a reserved pool of directed tickets set aside specifically for Rangers who sign up and commit to walking shifts. This ensures that tickets go to active Rangers who are stepping up to support the event this year.

Next year, we’ll have more time to adjust our training and shift sign-up timelines. Our goal is to make it possible for Rangers to access directed tickets earlier in the process — ideally at the same time as other volunteer teams.
